The actress Maria Orska (1883-1930) was celebrated in the 1920's, personifying the 'Femme Fatale'. She commited suicide in Vienna.
Emil Stumpp was an artist and teacher born in Neckarzimmern in southeastern Germany on March 17, 1886. He studied art and humanities in Karlsruhe. Stumpp reached some fame in Germany for his portraits of well-known people in the 1930s. He was commissioned for a portrait of Adolf Hitler, but when it was declared “unflattering” Stumpp was arrested and sentenced to one year in prison. He died from conditions in a jail in Stuhm (Sztum, Poland) in 1941.
