Biographical/Historical Information
Heinrich Joachim Auerbach was born in Breslau in 1890 and studied law. He served in the German army during the first World War, and afterwards became involved in the film industry. He immigrated to the U.S. in the 1930s.
Siegfried Laboschin was born in Gnesen (Now Gniezno, Poland) in 1868. He studied at the Berlin Art Academy from 1887-1889 under Anton von Werner, and then at the Munich Art Academy under Fritz Fehr and Hugo von Habermann from 1889-1891. He spent his career in Breslau (now Wroclaw, Poland), where he painted and made prints, typically of genres scenes, landscapes and still lifes. He was also in charge of the art section of the Breslauer Newspaper.
