Wenceslaus (also known as Wenzel) Hollar was born in Prague in 1607. He moved to Frankfurt am Main in 1627 to study printmaking. WHile in Germany, Thomas Howard, 21st Earl of Arundel, made Hollar's acquaintance and employed him as his draughtsman. After travels through Central Europe with Lord Arundel, Hollar moved with him to London, where he produced prints for Lord Arundel and other clients. Hollar died in 1677.
