Biographical/Historical Information

Georg Walter Rössner was born in Leipzig in 1885. He studied in Berlin under Lovis Corinth and later exhibited and joined the Berlin Secession. In 1920 he became a teacher at the Staatliche Kunstschule zu Berlin, a position that Max Liebermann helped secure for him. After a stint teaching abroad in Chile, he returned to Berlin in 1939 and continued working as an artist. He moved to Primenkau in Silesia in 1943 but was forced to leave in 1945,when he moved to Schleswig-Holstein. He died there in 1972.
