Biographical/Historical Information
Nathaniel Rothschild was born on November 8, 1840 in London into the wealthy Rothschild banking family, a grandchild of Nathan and son of Lionel Rothschild. Nathaniel Rothschild worked for the family bank and was a liberal member of the House of Commons from 1865 to 1885. In 1885, Rothschild became a member of the House of Lords and joined the Liberal Unionist party in 1886, which then merged with the conservatives. Nathaniel Rothschild died on March 31, 1915.
