Biographical/Historical Information

Elizabeth "Lili" Jeanrenaud (née Souchay) was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1796. Her daughter, Cécile Charlotte Sophie Jeanrenaud (10 October 1817 - 25 September 1853), married Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy in 1837.

Carl Georg Ham was a German portrait and genre painter, born in 1838 in Frankfurt am Main. He trained at the State Academy of Fine Arts-Städelschule in Frankfurt under Jakob Becker. In 1874, he moved to Berlin to teach. His works were noted for their candlelight effect and were featured in exhibitions in Franklin, Berlin, and Munich.
