    Small brown clip case with yellow interior straps holding decorative ribbons. Each ribbon has orange black and white stripes. One ribbon has a gold medallion in the center, and the other is attached to a black button and has a small cross ornament in the center of the tied ribbon. The cross has leaves surrounding "1914 1918" engraved in the center. Germany

    These honor cross button decorations belonged to Philipp Preuss, who drove a truck during World War I.

Biographical/Historical Information

The “Hindenburg Cross” (Ehrenkreuz des Weltkrieges 1914/1918) was a German honor cross established by Paul von Hindenburg in 1934, to honor front-line and non-combatant veterans of the World War.
