Biographical/Historical Information

The Trinity nuclear test was the first detonation of a nuclear weapon, conducted in the Jornada del Muerto desert in New Mexico at the White Sands Missile Range on July 16, 1945. Trinitite, named after the test, is a mineral formed when sand melts in a nuclear explosion.
