Biographical/Historical Information
The philosopher, historian, and rabbi Julius Guttmann was born in Hildesheim, Germany in 1880. From 1919 on, he taught philosophy at the University of Breslau; at Hochschule fuer die Wissenschaft des Judentums in Berlin; and eventually – after his emigration to Palestine in 1934 – at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Julius Guttmann died in Jerusalem in 1950.
