Biographical/Historical Information

The author Walter Meckauer was born in Breslau in 1889. In 1933, he escaped Nazi Germany to Switzerland, Italy, and France, then emigrated to the U.S. and retuned to West-Germany. In 1955, he was awarded a special medal for his contributions to German literature. Walter Meckauer died in Munich in 1966.
