Biographical/Historical Information

The medal was [probably ] issued in France, on “Journée Serbe” [Serbia Day], June 25, 1916, to raise contributions for Serb refugees in France following the invasion of Serbia by Austrian and Bulgarian forces in 1915.

Armand Bargas (1854-1941) was a noted metalwork artist active in Paris at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, best-known for his Art Nouveau buttons and cufflinks.
