Biographical/Historical Information
Alexander Oppler was a German sculptor. He was the son of architect Edwin Oppler and brother of painter Ernst Oppler. Born in Hannover, he studied in Munich, Brussels, and Paris. He was a member of both the Munich and Berlin Secessions. Oppler died in Berlin in 1937.
The Reichsadler was the German "Imperial eagle" featured on the German coat of arms, which has roots in Holy Roman heraldry.
