Biographical/Historical Information

The physician Richard Koch was born in Frankfurt in 1882. He was married to Maria Rosenthal, and the couple had five children, all born in Frankfurt: Naomi Laqueur (born in 1920 as Barbara, married to Walter Laqueur); Helen Elder (born as Hanna, married to Robert Elder); Eva (Chava) Weiss; Gertrude Koch; and Friedrich Koch. Gertrude and Friedrich went with their parents to Essentuki in the Soviet Union; Naomi and Eva left for Palestine (Naomi went on to England); and Helen ended up in the United States.
