Biographical/Historical Information
Music conductor and pianist Kurt Adler was born in Bohemia in 1907. He began studying music at the age of six and started his professional career at the Berlin State Opera, later conducting at the German Opera in Prague and the German Musical Stage in Berlin. From 1933 to 1939 he conducted operas and concerts all over Europe. Kurt Adler immigrated to the United States in October 1938, and in 1943 he joined the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. Kurt Adler died in Butler, New Jersey, in 1977.
