Biographical/Historical Information

Rose (Rosalie) Regensteiner (née Scheier) was born in Dresden, Germany in 1896. She was the daughter of Morris and Nataly (née Landau) Scheier. Rose was the wife of the ophthalmologist Dr. Martin Regensteiner and mother of Heinrich (Henry) and Egon (who died young at age 7). The family escaped Nazi Germany in 1938 and settled in New York City in the Inwood neighborhood. Rose died in New York in 1942 at age 45.
