    Hanger has a piece of paper attached with the following note written on it: "Danchen [?], You can keep this child's clothes hanger as what I think is called "artifact." (Correct?!) Since your children will not be able to trace your history in the U.S.A. you can show them "this" and tell them that already your great-grandfather (in fact - both your great-grandfathers on your mother's side) had their own business. Posen was part of Germany till 1920 about." On the back of the hanger is a name, possibly Hertha Maar, written in ink.

Biographical/Historical Information

Moritz Scherk (or Scherek) was born July 12, 1826 and died August 11, 1911. His wife was named Minna (née Bradt). He owned a store in Posen that sold clothing items for women and children.
