Biographical/Historical Information

The political style of post-war Germany relaxed compared to that of the Weimar period, but this poster demonstrations that dissenting veiwpoints were still discouraged. The poster suggests to the viewer that the politics of the SPD, which goes back to Karl Marx but was clearly democratic and anti-totalitarian, always ended in Bolshevism. It led to a debate in the Bundestag, but did nothing to change the fact that similar insinuations continue to influence election results.
