Biographical/Historical Information

This poster meant to depict the threat of the "Bolshevik beast" under von Reich Chancellor Franz von Papen, propogated by the Nazi party. The Reich Chancellor Franz von Papen offered Hitler a place in his cabinet. Hitler, however, did not want partial power as a member of the cabinet, but total power. This poster is against Papen's economic policy (an intervention in collective bargaining law), which Hitler himself would later implement. The imprint "Held! Auer!" is intended to smear the leaders of the major democratic parties in Bavaria (BVP and SPD) at random; there was no connection between these parties and Papen.
