Biographical/Historical Information
The poster conveys the message that "Prussianism" (signifying discipline, subordination, and the will to fight and make sacrifices) was regarded as the ideal civic attitude in the German Empire. The German National People's Party (Deutschnationale Volkspartei, or DNVP) favored Prussianism as traditional. Meanwhile the Weimar democracy (with its idea of popular sovereignty and the political maturity of the free citizen), is disparaged as a continuing abomination.
