Biographical/Historical Information

The German Republic in 1928 was going through a small economic recovery economic, under the watch of the Deutsche Demokratische Partei (DDP). The posters of the DDP are characterized by a non-polemical, fair-minded styles. The black-red-gold colors of the Republic appear on the shield.

The illustrator Theo Matejko (1893-1946) was Austrian. He specialized in illustrating racing car events and was involved in desiging posters for the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. He worked on Die Wehrmacht magazine during World War II.
