Biographical/Historical Information

Ernst Rodewald was born in the late 19th century in Germany. He served as a soldier in World War I. He then studied to be an architect at the Royal Academy of Art in Breslau after 1914. Ernst met his future wife, Lisa, at the academy. They married and their son, Claude, was born in 1921. The family moved to Berlin in 1928. Suffering from shell shock since serving as soldier, Ernst Rodewald committed suicide in 1934.

Though the artist's name is not known, the artist was likely a classmate of Ernst Rodewald's at the Royal Academy of Art in Breslau.
