Summary
2021.10a: American Defense Service Medal. On one side is a female Grecian figure symbolic of defense, holding a war shield and a sword. "American Defense" is at the top of the scene. The reverse of the medal has the wording "For service during the limited emergency proclaimed by the President on September 8, 1939 or during the unlimited emergency proclaimed by the President on May 27, 1941." The medal has a yellow ribbon with two groupings of thin blue, white and red stripes. The medal is pinned to a blue backing board.
2021.10b: Good Conduct Medal. On one side is an eagle holding a dagger in its talons, which is placed on top of a book. The words "Efficency, Honor Fidelity" encircle the eagle. The reverse of the medal shows a star surrounded by laurel leaves, with the message "For good conduct". The medal has a red ribbon with two groupings of three thin white stripes.
