Biographical/Historical Information

David Frischmann (1859-1922) was a poet, author, literary critic, and journalist writing in Hebrew and Yiddish. He is known as one of modern Jewry's first major writers.

Leonid Osipovich Pasternak (1862-1945) was the son of a Jewish Orthodox family in the Ukraine. After academic studies in Moscow, he graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and became widely known as a successful impressionist painter.
