Summary
The "3 illustrious men" are Johann Reuchlin, Ulrich von Hutten, and Hermann von dem Busche. Collected volume of letters addressed to Hermann Graf von Neuenar, who defended Johann Reuchlin (1455-1522) in the Pfefferkorn controversy on the burning of Jewish books. The volume includes Jacob van Hochstraaten's (dean of the Domenican Order of Cologne) condemnation of Reuchlin's Augenspiegel, Reuchlin's defense of his position, and supporting letters of the humanist Ulrich von Hutten and Hermann von dem Busche.
