Biographical/Historical Information
Marisol (Mariá Sol Escobar) was a sculptor, born to Venezuelan parents in Paris, France in 1930. Marisol was formally schooled at the Paris École des Beaux-Arts; at the Art Students League of New York; and at the New School for Social Research. Marisol focused on creating sculptures, assemblages, folk art, dada, and surrealist artworks, often through a feminist lens.
