Announcing Lecture Series: Many Promised Lands

Date
Wed, Apr 22, 2026

Building on the success of the 2025 anniversary lunchtime lectures, Many Promised Lands is a new series of online talks in 2026 that will explore the migrations of German-Jewish refugees after 1946.

After World War II, many Jewish refugees and Holocaust survivors could already look back on over a decade of persecution, flight, and multiple migrations. The arrival of peace and a new global order led many to continue their journeys. This lecture series will explore the diverse destinations chosen by German-speaking Jewish refugees who left before 1941, as well as by those who survived the Holocaust in Europe.

May 13, 12:00 PM: Robert Weltsch: German Zionism and Nationalism in Retrospect with Kobi Kabalek (Penn State)

This programming is made possible through the generous support of the Levi-Thalheimer Fund for Research and Public History.
