Hugo Gold founded the Olamenu Publishing House in Tel Aviv in 1943. It was the virtual successor of the Jüdischer Buch- und Kulturverlag, owned by his uncle Max Hickl and where Gold had worked beginning in 1918. Gold immigrated to Palestine in 1939.
