Richard Schauer and Hans May founded Schauer & May in London after their arrival in 1939. The publishing house specialized in popular and light music. In 1943, Schauer established Richard Schauer Music Publishers.
Richard Schauer had been active in music publishing before the Machtergreifung. Hans May was a successful film composer in Austria and Great Britain.
