Alfred Kerr was an influential writer and journalist before the Nazis seized power and subsequently declared him a target for his criticism against the party. In celebration of the publication of New York and London: A Journey After the Great War by Alfred Kerr, Ralph Blumenthal will join the Leo Baeck Institute and Berlinica Press to discuss Kerr's travelogue. As he explored the U.S. and Britain after the first World War, Kerr reflected on the Weimar Republic's struggle for democracy as he searched for help and understanding amongst his mew interlocutors.
Ralph Blumenthal, a Distinguished Lecturer at Baruch College, was a New York Times reporter from 1964-2009 and is now a contributor. He is a Guggenheim Fellow and non-fiction author.
