Benno Balan founded the music publishing house Edition Pro Musica with his wife Dora Balan-Munk in Jerusalem in 1935. The publishing house specialized in Hebrew music.
Balan had been active in music publishing in Germany before the Machtergreifung. He initially fled to Paris, where he ran a music shop, before immigrating to Palestine.
